What we collect
Subwhere does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The App uses the following information only on your device, never sent to us or any third party we control:
Camera feed - used by Apple’s ARKit framework to display the augmented reality view and to recognise your surroundings for geographic localisation. The camera image is processed on your device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.
Location — your approximate location is used to show subway trains running near you. Your location is processed on your device and never sent to our servers. It is never stored as a location history, shared, or sold. The same applies when the App provides location-based information through its home-screen widget and its Live Activity (see “Widgets and Live Activities” below), including while the App is in the background or closed.
Device motion and orientation — used for AR rendering. Processed on your device only.
We do not use analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising, crash-reporting services, or any third-party data collection.
Widgets and Live Activities
Subwhere offers an optional home-screen widget and an optional Live Activity (shown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island) that display the nearest station and upcoming train departures.
To show departures near you, these features read your device’s current location on the device, including while the App is in the background or closed. As with the rest of the App, this location is used only on your device to determine which station is nearest — it is never stored as a history, sent to our servers, shared, or sold.
The departure countdown shown in the widget and Live Activity updates on your device and does not require any data to be sent to us. When fresh departure information is needed, the App makes the same anonymous request to Trafiklab described below; that request contains no personal information about you. No data leaves your device other than that anonymous request.
Data sent to third parties
The App requests live train data from Trafiklab (https://www.trafiklab.se), a public transit data service operated by Samtrafiken. The App sends a request for current Stockholm subway train positions; this request does not contain any personal information about you. Trafiklab’s privacy policy applies to that interaction: https://www.trafiklab.se/sv/anvandarvillkor/
When using AR features, the App relies on Apple’s ARKit and ARGeoTracking. These are operating-system services provided by Apple. Apple may collect data as described in Apple’s own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Permissions
The App will ask for permission to use:
Camera — required for AR functionality. The App cannot work without this.
Location (when in use) — required to show trains near you, and to power the optional home-screen widget and Live Activity. The App cannot work without this.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Subwhere.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
